Are they an approved MOT test station?
Only a garage approved by the DVSA can carry out an MOT, and the blue three-triangle sign should be on the wall. Some garages take cars to a test station elsewhere, which is fine, but ask.
Will they ring before doing extra work?
The MOT fee has a legal maximum, but repairs found during it do not. Agree that nothing beyond the test is done without a call.
Do they know your make?
