Volunteer transport to medical appointments
Covering Silchester, Pamber Heath and 3 more villages
Burghfield and Mortimer Volunteer Bureau is a non-profit run entirely by volunteers, taking people door to door and back again to medical appointments.
Volunteer drivers taking people to medical appointments since 1974.

About Burghfield & Mortimer Volunteer Bureau
They are open to the whole community, providing individual transport to doctors, hospitals, dentists, opticians, physiotherapy and anything else medical, for anyone who would otherwise find it hard to get there, whether that is because of age, living somewhere rural, having no family nearby, illness or injury.
They ask for a small donation towards the drivers' fuel and the modest cost of running the office.

They cover a good deal more than the two villages in their name. Aldermaston, Beech Hill, Burghfield, Grazeley, Mortimer, Mortimer West End, Padworth, Pamber Heath, Silchester, Sulhamstead, Stratfield Saye, Ufton Nervet and Wokefield are all on the list. As well as local surgeries, dentists and opticians, and the Royal Berkshire and West Berkshire hospitals, they will go as far as Basingstoke, Swindon, Oxford, Windsor and Frimley Park. If you are not sure whether somewhere is too far, ring the office and they will ask the drivers.
They are always looking for new volunteer drivers, so if you have a few spare hours, or know somebody who has, get in touch.
