About

Calleva Volunteers is a group dedicated to looking after the Silchester Roman walls, the mile and a half of Roman town wall that still stands around the site of Calleva Atrebatum on the edge of the village. They work in partnership with English Heritage, Hampshire County Council, Silchester Parish Council and the Silchester Association. The group keeps in touch through its Facebook group, which is where to find out what is coming up and how to join in.

What they do

  • Looking after the Silchester Roman walls
  • Working in partnership with English Heritage, Hampshire County Council, Silchester Parish Council and the Silchester Association

Calleva Volunteers has agreed to be listed as an EveryVillage partner. We wrote this page ourselves, from information Calleva Volunteers and others have published. Silchester Association directory, silchester.org, read October 2026, which names the group's partners and links its Facebook group. The wall's length and the Roman town's name are from English Heritage's own page for the site. Last checked October 2026. If you help run it, send us a correction or ask us to take the page down.
