Longbridge Mill

Pub and restaurant in a working watermill

A pub and restaurant in a watermill on the Loddon, with the wheel still inside and milling days now and then.

About

Longbridge Mill is the pub where the Reading Road crosses the Loddon, in a mill that worked until 1977. There has been a mill on the site for something like eight hundred years. The building that holds the machinery is fifteenth century with a sixteenth century granary beside it, a fire in 1991 took some of the buildings, and the rest became a pub in 1996 with the breastshot wheel restored. It still turns on occasional demonstration days and the flour is sold. Open from noon in the week and from breakfast at the weekend.

What’s here

  • Food all day
  • Breakfast from 9am at weekends

We wrote this page ourselves, from information Longbridge Mill and others have published. Compiled 17 October 2026 from the North Hampshire CAMRA branch's page for the pub (hours and phone), Wikipedia's article on the mill and the Hampshire Mills Group newsletter (the mill's history, the 1991 fire, the 1996 conversion and the restored wheel) and Historic England's listing, read through search results. The current operator's own page could not be opened from the session and is not linked. Pinned at the listed building's own grid reference, SU683581, from Historic England's entry as read through search results. If you help run it, send us a correction or ask us to take the page down.
