Plumbers in Tadley

Overview

Most of Tadley was built in a hurry between the 1950s and the 1970s for people working at Aldermaston, and that shows in the plumbing. Original copper reaching the end of its life, back boilers replaced with combis, and bathrooms that have been refitted twice. The town is on mains gas, so a Gas Safe registration is the check that matters here, and water is hard enough that a scaled-up boiler is the usual reason a heating engineer gets called. Plenty of plumbers cover Tadley from Basingstoke and Reading; the ones listed here are the ones who work locally.

6-6-S Home Improvements, Ecoace and Tadley Heating Services Ltd have signed up and confirmed their own details with us, and cover Tadley. Everyone else on this page is listed from public information and has not confirmed anything with us yet.

Before you book a plumber

Plumbing and heating are usually the same trade round here, and the heating half is the regulated half.

  1. Are they Gas Safe registered?

Anyone working on a gas boiler, hob or fire must be on the Gas Safe Register, and you can look a name or licence number up on the register's website. A plumber who only does water and drains does not need it, but a boiler service or a new gas appliance always does.

  2. Do they work on oil, LPG and heat pumps?

Off the gas grid the boiler runs on oil or bottled gas, and neither is covered by Gas Safe. Oil engineers register with OFTEC; a heat pump installer should be MCS certified, which is also what a government grant requires.

  3. Will they say what a call-out costs before they come?

A first hour or call-out charge, and an hourly rate after it, are reasonable to ask for over the phone. Anyone who will not give a figure at all is better avoided.
